Champlin, MN (May 1, 2019) – DECO Inc., a global provider of training, security solutions, and specialized technical services to clients throughout the world, today announced they were awarded the Department of State (DOS), Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Office of Africa and Middle East Programs (AME) Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Women’s Corrections Academy Training Project Contract. DECO will be responsible for providing training and mentoring to the KSA to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a women corrections academy training that graduates KSA staff who are prepared for work in a modern correctional setting that conforms to internationally-accepted best correctional practices and human rights standards.
The Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) leads the Department’s anticrime and counter-narcotics efforts. INL assistance programs help partner nations to build their capacities to extend the reach of justice under the rule of law, including respect for human rights and gender equality, and to deny safe haven to criminals who would otherwise operate with near impunity. The resources entrusted to INL enable INL to deliver technical assistance and capacity to: enhance international drug control through interdiction and supply reduction; develop civilian law enforcement capacity, regional partnerships, and information sharing; and further the administration of justice and corrections under the rule of law with respect for human rights. This mission supports peace and security by stabilizing and strengthening security institutions and by combating narco-trafficking and other transnational crimes such as money laundering, criminal gangs, and wildlife trafficking. It promotes governing justly and democratically by strengthening justice sector institutions, good governance and respect for human rights.
This project will provide training and mentoring for up to 50 women corrections trainers from the General Directorate on Prisons (GDP) and offer the transfer of knowledge through training and mentoring the GDP, in Saudi Arabia, as the GDP reviews and improves current curricula and designs and creates new curricula and training paths, aligned with corrections best practices. The project will create a cadre of women corrections trainers through Saudi Arabia-based instructor development courses, and mentoring for the GDP staff, in Saudi Arabia, to enhance the operations and management of the women corrections training center that opened in June 2015.
